Breast augmentation can be performed using round, teardrop-shaped anatomical, or ergonomic implants. During surgery, an incision is made in the skin, usually under the breast and/or around the areola. The implant is inserted through the incision, and the incision is then closed with sutures. If necessary, additional procedures may be performed during breast augmentation, such as correction of the nipple or areola, breast lift, or other adjustments. After surgery, the breasts are bandaged with a special dressing, and the patient is fitted with a compression bra. The operation usually lasts about one hour or slightly longer. The final result can usually be assessed 3–6 months after surgery.
