Hysteroscopic polyp removal

Hysteroscopic polyp removal is a minimally invasive procedure used to examine the uterine cavity and remove endometrial polyps.

During the procedure, a thin hysteroscope is gently passed through the cervix into the uterus. The instrument allows the gynaecologist to clearly view the cervical canal and uterine cavity on a monitor and accurately identify any abnormal changes.

If a polyp is found, it can usually be removed during the same procedure. A tissue sample may also be taken and sent for histological examination if further assessment is required.

Uterine polyps may be associated with heavy, prolonged or irregular bleeding. Their removal can help reduce these symptoms and restore a more normal bleeding pattern.

As hysteroscopy does not require abdominal incisions, postoperative discomfort is usually minimal and recovery is generally quick. Many patients are able to return home on the same day.
