Rhinoplasty

During rhinoplasty, incisions are typically made along the columella and extended into the mucosa of both nostrils. According to the surgical plan discussed before the operation, the nasal bridge may be narrowed, the hump reduced, the nostrils narrowed, the tip position adjusted, or a synthetic or autologous graft may be inserted. This may include bone or cartilage taken from the patient’s nasal septum, ear, rib cartilage, or another suitable area. The patient is typically advised to stay in the hospital for the first 24 hours after surgery. If no complications arise, postoperative care continues on an outpatient basis. The splint applied during surgery is removed after 1–3 weeks. A follow-up visit to evaluate the final results is usually scheduled 1–2 months after the operation.
